Terms of Service

Last updated 20 September 2026 · plain-language draft

PixSorter is developed and provided by Botat (botat.org) — “we”, “us” below — who also operates pixsorter.botat.org. Viewing your library is free, and the Pro and Max licences are one-time purchases. These terms cover the PixSorter app for macOS and this website; by buying a licence or using the app you accept them.

1. What PixSorter is

PixSorter is a native macOS application (macOS 13 or later) for browsing, rating and organising your own photos and videos. Viewing your library is free and stays free. The paid tiers add the tools that change files.

2. Licences and prices

TierPriceWhat it unlocks
Free$0Grid, timeline, preview, ratings, reject marks, near-duplicate finder
Pro$19 one-time (regular $47)Everything in Free, plus sweep and bulk move, in-place rotate, crop export, process control and terminator
Max$47 one-time (regular $99)Everything in Pro, plus menu-bar system status, extra document types and higher zoom

Prices are in US dollars and shown at checkout. Pro and Max are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. There is no recurring charge, no renewal and nothing to cancel. The reduced prices are launch pricing and may change later; a licence you already bought is not affected.

3. What you get

Paying gives you a licence key (a PS1.… string) for your personal use of the paid tiers, on Macs you personally own or control. You activate it in the app under Settings → Manage License…. It is verified locally on your Mac against a key built into the app — there is no account, no server in the activation path, and no expiry on a standard key. One licence per buyer; a licence is a permission to use the software, not a transfer of ownership.

4. Delivery

When a payment succeeds, our fulfilment service issues the key immediately and we email it to the address given on the order. At launch this hand-off is partly manual, so allow up to one business day. If the key has not arrived, message @botatSupport on Telegram with your receipt and we re-send it from the issuance ledger.

5. Payment, tax and receipts

Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every purchase: it collects the payment, calculates and remits any sales tax or VAT, issues your receipt and handles refunds and chargebacks. Its own terms apply to the payment alongside these terms. We never see or store your card details.

6. Using your licence

7. Your files stay yours

The app works offline. It does not upload your photos or videos, and browsing never copies or modifies them. See the Privacy Policy for the little data we do handle.

8. Refunds

Refunds are covered by the Refund & Cancellation Policy: a 7-day window from the purchase, handled by Dodo Payments.

9. Warranty and liability

PixSorter is provided “as is”. We do not promise that it will meet every requirement or run on every configuration — it needs macOS 13 or later. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the app or this website is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer law, and nothing excludes our liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the version published on this page when you buy is the one that applies to that purchase. Questions go to @botatSupport on Telegram — our only support channel, and a route we can answer in writing.
